Money for All

Man is a highly social being, yet the monetary system in which we live has turned us into individual fighters. Therefore, the association advocates for a regional currency and unconditional basic income (UBI). Growth in nature serves only to achieve an optimal size. This size has long been reached and even exceeded by many companies. Money leads to more power, and more power leads to more money. This undermines democracy, and the immense capital of corporations encourages abuse of power. Local economies suffer for the sake of global exploitation. In capitalism, money has replaced human dignity. Money has become a commodity, and the purpose of economic activity has become an end in itself.

Money should and must serve a good life for all! This is no longer the case. Human dignity is only assured with sufficient financial means. Therefore, we must return the number one medium of power back into the hands of the people. All power to the people means all money to the people! Universal basic income is the royal road to enable all the goals of our vision.

The Bochum Mark is here!

For more “we” in the economy.

All international currencies (such as the Euro, Dollar, or Yen) are inherently antisocial in their functioning. They promote the exploitation of all, to the benefit of a few wealthy individuals. Interest rates compel the economy to pursue perpetual growth at the expense of the environment, workers, and ultimately our children, who inherit a debt burden that continues to escalate.

We in Bochum want to create a counterbalance.

Social money. The Bochum Mark – or simply B-Mark – is this new “social money,” a regional currency exclusively for our city. It strengthens the Bochum economy, promotes tourism, and prevents money from drifting abroad. The B-Mark balances out unfair trade, accelerates the flow of money within the city, and makes human values affordable again. Every citizen, employer, and employee who participates benefits from it. The B-Mark will locally strengthen Bochum’s economy and at the same time protect it from the global risks of financial markets. It is money from people for people and not a loan from banks for workers who are supposed to work off debts. This way, a healthy economy is possible, even in times of recession.

The publisher is the non-profit association “Gemeinsam schöner leben e. V.,” which advocates for values such as humanity, dignity, and cohesion, which have become increasingly rare lately. The B-Mark comes from Bochum and is for Bochum! Food, labor, and everyday goods can be exchanged in all participating stores. This strengthens local trade from the hairdresser to the baker to the pub owner. The faster flow of money of the Bochum Mark makes services more affordable. Thanks to the B-Mark, the Bochum economy will flourish in good times as well as in bad times.

The loss of the middle class is the loss of democracy in a country. The loss of the middle class is the loss of the citizen around whom the economy, politics, and banking should revolve. Whom does an economy serve if it no longer serves the people? Whom does all the money serve if it does not serve the citizens? The B-Mark strengthens the weakened middle class and is the empowerment of the people over a politics of billionaires.
